Does a Latex Mattress Cause Back Pain?

There were some minor reports about latex mattress causing back pains. Could there be any truth to this claim? This could be possible if you are using a substandard latex mattress or a hybrid mattress.

A hybrid mattress infuses the technology of latex with another technology such as spring or memory foam mattress. During these cases, the fusion may not be as good as the pure one which will then cause back pains.

You see, latex is inherently good to those suffering from back pains. In fact, it was touted as the best mattress that can get rid of pressure points and sore muscles. It was purported to be a better choice to memory foam mattress. You probably know by now that memory foam mattresses' primary goal is to get rid of pressure points.

Latex-type mattresses are good options because they provide semi-firm comfort. If a mattress has semi-firm comfort, it is not too painful on the lower back. The upper body is well-supported and the lower back is cushioned effectively to relieve back pains. The pincore holes in the mattress allow it to conform to the contours of your body.

Like what I mentioned earlier, if there are reports that this mattress gives back pains, this may be caused by a poor manufacturing procedure of latex foams. Maybe the pincore holes are too small for comfort. Sleep experts say bigger pincore holes are better as it provides better comfort.

Also, fusing it with other technologies such as memory foam may prove to be an ingenious idea but if you have not found comfort in memory foams before, you will definitely not find comfort in them even if it is fused with latex.

Another reason why it may cause back pain is probably due to mattress sagging or mattress depressions. Again, if you are not using a good mattress brand, this will likely happen. You are better off with a latex-type mattress with 60% or more of latex incorporated in the mattress. This assures us that it is durable and comfortable.

Also, having Dunlop latex as its bottom layer puts our worries at ease. Dunlop latex provides just the right amount of support to the whole mattress. So if you are daunted with the rumors that latex mattress cause back pain, know that it can only happen if you do choose one carefully. Be vigilant in your choices and you can only experience the benefits of using this mattress.
